The Gap

My grandmother, "Gannie", has lived in Cranfills Gap, Texas for 36 years. "The Gap" as it is called by locals was established by Norwegian settlers and the residents (all 600) are very proud of their Norwegian heritage. Gannie's father (my great-grandfather), Otto Reesing, was 17 when he sailed alone from Norway to America to settle in Cranfills Gap in 1906. He came through Ellis Island and received his citizenship several years after the voyage. As a new citizen, he enlisted in the Army to fight in World War I.

edit: Reason for "The Gap" post is because Heather and I took a day off from work to make a visit. Heather had never been to this place of my childhood.
